Tapestry at Munchkins
Meadowcroft Munchkins has adopted the secure online record keeping system Tapestry to collect information on each child in order to produce a personal learning journey of their time at the preschool. Tapestry is a popular system which is hosted in the UK on secure servers and used by many schools, preschools and nurseries. We use the system to observe, assess and review each child’s progress, adding observations and photos regularly for you to view.
When your child joins us their personal information will be loaded onto the system by myself to create their learning journey and a link will be sent to you via email so that you can create your own access to the site. By logging on with a secure username and password you will be able to view your child’s observations and photos from their time with us. You will receive emails telling you when a new piece of work or observation is available for you to view. This will enable you to follow your child’s progress closely and you can reflect upon achievements and milestones with your child. You will be able to add comments and ask questions so that we as a staff find out about which activities your child really enjoys and about the learning they do at home. Staff will reference your child’s learning to the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum so you will know which areas of learning your child is achieving in for that activity. All this information is then stored on a highly secure server which is closely monitored.
At Munchkins we take Esafety very seriously. Staff use Kindle Fire tablets to record information for the learning journeys and each tablet used is password protected. Each member of staff has a personal PIN number to access their key children’s records. These tablets are kept securely at all times and used solely for the purpose of Tapestry.

Key workers observe their key children and maintain learning journals for each of them in order to monitor their development and plan for their next steps and individual needs. This ensures that all of the children at Munchkins are supported in reaching their full potential. Parents have access to these journals at all times and are given the opportunity to meet with their child’s key worker to discuss progress during each term.
